Broomfield Cricket Club 1st XI v Burnham Sports 1st X1 on Sat 01 Jul 2023 at 1:00
Broomfield Cricket Club Won by 95 runs
Match report
The captain won the toss and the captain decided to bat, obvs. The captain opened with Dog and got us off to a steady start against one pretty lively opener finding plenty of bounce, chins music it was called today with reference to the captain. 50-0 off the first 10 was an excellent start, with NC continually mocking the consistently low opening stands. The captain would reach his first half century of the season and they would go on to make a century opening stand until Dog went trying to reach his 50, falling just short on 46. A nice platform for the sloggers to build on. The fielding from the oppo was generous, one player in particular letting the fat kids off aplenty. The captain went for 53 leaving Rorn and Stylo to put on 60 until Rorn was triggered by Liam with a feather of a glove behind that was only heard about as far as the hospital. Stylo would go on to make another 50 dealing in Bs, utterly chinned on the way by the pacey Whittaker removing his lid. Fish and Rich (with some coaching) added handy little stand at the end, taking us to 251 from the 45, a score that looked about par in the conditions. The victim of the innings was Noah not troubling the scorers and needing something with the ball to avoid the footwear.
Bunham started in a bit of a frenzy, calling for risky runs that would prove costly as they took a suicidal single to Liam who calmly waited for Bainesy to jog the 5 yards to collect at the stumps. The dangerous Silvester played at everything and was snaffed by Fish, taking advantage of the pressure built by accuracy of wicketless Noah. A little flurry of runs for the 5th wicket was all they got, a very good grab by Liam to remove the other Silvester off Raj's bowling. Then it was just down to NC to get the mop out, again. Another 5fer for the league's top taker as we rattled through them for only 156. A very good win that sees up at the top.
Noah bowled well but the Dales were on too tight.
