Won the toss and decided to bat, however the openers both went cheaply which left it all for Ruwan to do. Once he went for 35, off his usual 2-3 overs, proven batting was sparse. There was some resistance from the Colts and tail but all out for 148 with 8 overs still to play meant it would take an incredible bowling effort to win.

And we nearly did it. Robin and Ruwan kept the run rate down whilst taking wickets, then whoever captain Rich threw the ball to delivered. 2 wickets for Dan, and tight lines from Alexander and Josh kept hopes alive all the way to the end, but in the penultimate over Brookweald crept over the line, winning by 2 wickets. A familiar tale this season, it’s the hope that kills you. Positive signs though, we keep going.
