Match report A great bowling and fielding performance was slightly marred by a batting collapse the likes of which I hope to never see again: chasing only 116 we were 16-8, with half of the dismissed batsman more interested in watching the liverpool v west ham FA cup final than watching their teammates fight for a first victory.
With the 15 yr old hat-trick taker only allowed to bowl 6 overs (5-7!), Rettendon started to worry with the Thorn family the only resistance. The opposition quickly decided to allow a single to the younger Thorn to try to get the elder Thorn out.
With one ball remaining in an over the field would tighten to block off the single. One instance of a 'light chip' over the infield to try to scamper a single saw the ball fly into the adjacent field for a six!
Unfortunately the Thorn's couldn't do it on their own and a disasterous defeat was met with a few harsh words in the dressing room from unhappy skipper Goodchild.
