Match report Boreham 2s vs BCC 2s

Difficult game in many ways, Boreham were bottom of the league and not expected to do much but we had a young looking side and limited batting so things could have gone horribly wrong. Our first 10 overs allayed such fears as Robin and Dan held them to only 15 runs. After a couple of missed chances Jamie got the party started with a one handed catch from Robin, then Issac ‘the wizard’ Wright unleashed his supernatural powers finishing with 3 wickets. Jamie and Andy added a wicket a piece before Robin mopped up most of the tail with 3 from his second spell. However we couldn’t get them all out as they limped over the line to finish 106/9; Boreham by name, definitely boring by nature.

John opened the batting and looked to win it single-handedly off the first couple of overs as he made a fast start. At the other end, Dave’s struggles to recapture the form that had him opening for KEGs 30 years ago continues as he was bowled round his legs for 3. A rare John run out for 19 brought our earlier concerns to the fore but with Liam in the middle we needn’t have worried as he calmly took us towards the chequered flag, although his mood wasn’t helped by Robin stealing his runs to deny his 50. Nevertheless Liam’s 38* saw us home to win by 5 wickets. A good effort all round to get the job done, especially the U15s bowling that laid the foundations for what in the end was an easy win.
