Great Wakering v Broomfield Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 13 Aug 2022 at 13.00
Broomfield Cricket Club Won by 13 runs
Match report
Another stinking hot day and another toss won by in form tosser Gas. In to bat and Gas bottling it saw Egg and Dog take it to the oppo. Cruising at 84-0 before Egg holed out just before 50, again. Looked like we were on for a big total but Raj had other ideas as he triggered Rorn to start Rorn's total headloss. Gas and Rich picked up some useful runs mid-innings but no one got in to get a big one when it was clearly available. Dog giving Rich his annual walk from another LBW. We ended on 192 which was clearly below par in conditions although it wasn't obvious what batting GW had.
In to bowl and they got off to a good start until Raj started to reap the rewards of giving LBWs as he racked up 3 himself, I assume there was a bowler's union plot discussed pre-match. Raj would end with his first 5 for to put us in a strong position. However, the fielding was abysmal all afternoon and Dog decided to give Holman a few lives as he was putting Egg in to adjacent postcodes. Luckily, NC's miserly spell made up for Goat's spanking and he would get Holman, had he connected with the shot it would probably have landed in the sea, in Wales. Noah came back on to finish the job picking up 3 in total and we crept over the line, a game we should've lost but winning is a habit, 12 on the spin.
The Dales vote was interesting to say the least. Goat conducting the masses in to the alleged 2 horse race between Rorn and Dog. Somehow the masses fell for it, Goat receiving no votes, even hoodwinking NC. Raj finished owning Rorn for the day by casting the key vote which would see the latter pick up back-to-backs. Unreal.
