Broomfield Cricket Club 1st XI v Rayleigh 2nd X1 on Sat 06 Aug 2022 at 13.00
Broomfield Cricket Club Won by 159 runs

Match report Top vs bottom, the Gas derby. A toss we wanted to win and the skipper provided, in to bat we went. The cockiness of Egg and Rorn soon became the jonah of all jonahs as they departed for 4 and 0 respectively, the latter to a smart catch from the home skipper. Gas soon went after to leave Stylo and Dog, Stylo only managing a few sips of the pre-knock Roni due to the early dismissals. Didn't matter, dealing in Bs for fun whilst well supported by Dog (27) and then Noah (33). He would finally fall for an excellent 120, the highest individual score of the season to make Rorn even happier. Bainesy continued his recent form after a sicknote week off with 45 whilst the tail also wagged with Raj smashing 3 and Goat hitting the best uppercut local leagues would ever have seen to finish with 4 and up his season total to, well, 4. Ending on 282, it looked under par according to one of the oppo which was interesting.

Out to bowl, Fish and Raj started with tight lines, Raj missing off stump by about 6 inches on a number of occasions that were called as wides. The extra balls counted though as he removed the dangerous Lynchy, plucked by Stylo. Wickets would continue to tumble, as did the levels of the opening bat's banter, perhaps he wasn't trained in that. He would finally end his tearful and humiliating day by getting snaffed by the joke at mid wicket, couldn't work out what sport that was, bun cricket I guess. After fielding like Goat after 2 magners, Egg actually did something worthwhile by leaping like a really overweight salmon to get rid of the oppo skipper and then it was just left to the all rounder to complete the new pentagonal flag of colonel, bulb drain, runs, catches and wickets. He duly obliged with a Scottish football team, the last of which would've got rid of anyone in world cricket. All out for 123, eleven wins on the bounce with 4 to play.

Dales was pretty straight forward, Rorn would've need something akin to Stu away at Springfield to have any chance of getting away with it, getting about 150 less runs than he should've got as the excitement and anticipation of the Gas Jnr reunion got to him.
