Broomfield Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
The 3 hour journey called by Egg was never a motivator but it wasn't actually a bad place, pitch looked good too. So up stepped Raj on captaincy debut (as Gas was away, leaning over a tractor with John Boy in his rear view somewhere) to lose the toss, good start. On what looked like a 250 minimum track in the conditions, they were never overly aggressive apart from Kumar who Goat dropped before he'd hit a boundary. Fish and Raj were tight enough in the opening spell with Raj nicking one in his last over when Egg snaffed one with a 5 yard dive plucking it with finger tips only, absolute joke of an athlete. Then NC got going taking 2 (1 utter dolly for Rorn as per) and Goat did what he always did, removing the anchor with an utter snorter that would've taken down any test batsman averaging over 100, an utter J to bring the W leaving only the screw to complete the flag. Stylo taking a couple with the gloves (after a drop and blundered run out) both off the delayed return of Fish and produced a solid display deputising for Bainesy who was commentating and supervising elsewhere. They seemed to crawl to 200 and I'd say we were pretty happy with that. Biryani and Kingfisher at tea was an interesting touch as well.
In reply, Egg and Dog kicked us off. Little bits of luck for each until Egg got triggered by the returning Rich and Rob wasn't too far behind, chucking in a massive nib on his way off after getting called a cheat. After that, the rest of us just sat back and watched the show. Dog was warming up throughout, NC commenting that he'd filled and entire row of the scorebook when reaching 14, which was better than 12 the previous week. Stylo, at the 17th attempt finally got a ton, hitting the winning runs to reach 101* even though Dog did everything he could to leave him stranded in the 90s. Dog finished with an excellent 65* to hold the innings together and ensure the famous collapse didn't appear. Won by 8 wickets with 14 overs to spare, 7 on the bounce.
Some mild Dale controversy but nobody did much wrong, so Goat got them, obvs.
