Broomfield Cricket Club 1st XI v High Easter 1st on Sat 03 Aug 2019 at 13:00
Broomfield Cricket Club Won By 24 Runs

Match report He only won a toss! At a time where batting points are desperately needed we got to go first. We got off to a flier with Eglin hogging the strike and finding the boundary for fun putting us 33-0 off the first 5. He then missed a straight one and Dog followed soon after undoing the good start. Rob and Fish then came and went leaving us at 73-4 and the game was apparently over according to one of the opposition, good shout that turned out to be. That left 'nurdler' Farrow and Rich at the crease needing a partnership and based on form, it was anything but a given. However, they dug in and then got going to put on 140 to put us in a good position to have a go at the end. Gas bashed it to all parts to reach his first ton since the 'Mary' tag was lifted and was well supported by specialist keeper Rich, making 52. Watts came in with google earth at the ready and duly obliged with a couple of hefty blows to get us up to 260 at tea which looked about par at best with the oppo having a strong looking batting line up.

Looking to make early inroads, Fish removed M Green after a few code browns as he just reached a ball on off stump to nick behind. Brisland was looking dangerous as ever as runs came freely during the opening spells. Cowell and Eglin both came on, the latter bowling utter dung and rightfully removing himself for The Goat after a few. The key moment of the game came when NC spooked Brisland in to walking out of his crease, apparently thinking he'd been bowled and was easily stumped as a result. The game was by no means over at this point as they were up with the rate. A couple of catches needed to be taken, perhaps not in the bell as Farrow managed and when Fish decided to start throwing dollies over the boundary (which led to a deserved Dales) we weren't over the line. However, The Goat removed the dangerous middle order of Norgrove, H Green (not sure how he got out to that cack TBF) and J Moss which left them too much to do and we ran out comfortable winners in the end by 24 runs. A very up and down game that could've gone either way so a decent result in the end. Looking at other results, the title race is now wide open. Let's hope OCs latest match report isn't too mean or brutal.
