Broomfield Cricket Club Won By 3 Wickets

Match report At last the weather returned to something like a June day and the game went ahead. As usual, useless tosser Eglin lost the toss and we were asked to field first which was annoying. An early wicket again for Fish and bizarrely another bowled. Then saw the only partnership of any purpose, between Greenfield and Patel. It probably lasted longer than it should after Rob Lynn's good idea of removing slip to Dog only for Patel to stick about 4 straight there in the next 2 overs. The oppo batted poorly throughout and wickets fell regularly, Eglin smelt the tail early on so got himself in the attack ASAP. Only one hideous fielding moment this week, unsurprisingly from the Goat who decided to stand still rather than walk forward a yard to take an easy catch. Wickets shared about as the battle for leading bowler is starting to shape up nicely as we reduced them to 125 a/o. Due to the Goat nicking 2 in 5 balls, the Dales were looking like a batting moment would earn them this week and so it proved.

Another usual start to the innings, Rich using his pad and sent on his way by the digit of Buttertrigger. The in form (although he hasn't told anyone) Dog Turner came to the crease and was a little late on one that decorated his timbers. At 31-2, Rankins started to think they were back in it. However, with Eglin scoring at more than 1 an over this week, he and Rob put on 55 to set up the final part of the chase. Rob departed for 29 and in came the slightly out of form Farrow. He went for a standard duck and claim the Dales, somehow for the first time this season. Fisher made a quick 22 before he chipped one up and the Eglin bottled another 50 trying to play a Buttersesque swipe. Butters then went, funnily enough with a Buttersesque swipe and the panic was on, the only reaction to seeing the Goat padded up. The crippled Baines looked shaky playing for his average and the Prince was also in after already showering when Eglin and Rob Lynn were in (utter Jonah). We scraped over the line with a fine cover drive from the shiny headed one that just got over the boundary. Luckily it just made the rope as his erection over the stroke was preventing him running the required 2 to at least level the scores. Another good win, a game perhaps we may have thrown away in recent seasons.
