Broomfield Cricket Club Lost By 101 Runs
Match report
This was not a good day to lose a toss, despite the size of the defeat it was probably a case of who won the toss, won the game. In the field first we started well and bowled pretty well throughout apart from the Goat who was utter bun but blamed the slope with a 2 inch decline. Our energetic start in the field subsided again by dropped catches which are really starting to cost us. More anticipation is required from all, the look of shock from people when the ball is heading for them is just strange, expect it every ball! They somehow managed to get to 210 off their 45 which flattered them. NC and Eglin with 3 wickets each.
In reply Dog went straight away followed by Eglin, both caught at slip. At this point it became quite obvious why one of our former players has joined this side, their vocal bravery when all together was medalworthy. However, Rob Lynn then entered and looked ok and quite enjoying the utter guff chat but suddenly went blind and didn't play at a rank full toss, the reaction from the oppo was akin to a food drop on a destitute Ethiopian plain. Wickets continued to tumble and the chase never looked on despite some good work from Diesel and Scott Reilley late on (not enough to avoid the Dales I'm afraid Scott). Based on their change bowling and their batting line up, it was hard to see how they're top of the pile (although the keeper was exceptional it has to be said) but more important for us to look at ourselves and ask why we've been beaten that easily in the end. The weather of course was an issue, as enjoyable as the yapping mut on the side of the pitch but not enough of an excuse. Move on to next week and make sure we're better prepared in all areas for the return fixture at the end of the season.
