Match report This was a game that didn't look very positive for Broomfield from the off set with the skipper wanting to bowl first but losing the toss and being put in to bat. A very fragile looking batting line up with only the Thornado recognised as the in form batsman. The innings was opened by an out of form Aaron Eglin and usual tail ender Jonny May. Expecting to be in an early spot of bother the two openers set about notching up runs on the scoreboard and with 46 on the board in 8 overs things looked very positive, all beit Jonny still on 0 off of about 20 balls! May was removed by a good yorker from J Pearce and he shortly removed Rob Holmes after a nice looking on drive.
The Thornado and Eglin didn't stop piling on the runs and soon the 100 was up in about 16 overs. Eglin next ball hit his 8th pull shot of the day for 6 and another off the next ball for 4 bringing up a well played fifty. The innings consisted of some textbook pull shots square and through mid-wicket off of some short bowling. Unfortunately for Broomfield with the score on 112 the Thornado was ousted holing out in the deep at Cow Corner succumbing to Fitton's grenades. Matt Turner was number 5 making his debut in mens cricket for Broomfield. He got to work nudging the singles and consolodating along with Eglin who realised with the departure of the key batsman he was the linchpin. He couldn't keep his patience however and holed out to Cow Corner like his previous partner. to be continued!
