Broomfield Cricket Club 1st XI v Hatfield Peverel 1st on Sat 30 Jul 2022 at 13.00
Broomfield Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report Top of the table clash, just needed to win the toss and bat first. We won the toss and bowled first, cheers Gas. Must've been distracted at the toss for reason, liking how the call was made or something. Looked a shocker of a decision after 4 overs, Noah taking himself off after 2 from the wrong end. In stepped the in form Dog. Nailed both the openers with the ball doing plenty. After that, the run rate was abysmal. On a track and outfield where 250 looked par at best, they couldn't get anyone away. Raj was tidy again and picked up 2 to match Dog. NC came on and the only batsman who got in got spilt, off his own bowling too, LONS.......... Noah came back on and removed the dangerous Laz with what turned out to be a generous decision, very rare these days and also picked up another through a lightning fast reaction catch from Raj. With the decision of whether Goat or Egg would be the 5th bowler, Gas decided the more consistent line and length of Egg would be better suit than 4 J's an over from Goat. Started well with Egg getting utterly pummeled first over. He would redeem himself with 4 wickets though, including his female nemesis. Stylo was a joke behind the sticks again and only needed the one Roni as pre-match life support, 3 catches and no byes. They limped to 171 all out, nowhere near enough unless we were hopeless in reply.

Gas bottled opening so Egg and Dog set about the chase. it took 24 Fish-esque balls before a run would come, that's actually pretty quick for Dog these days to be fair. Once we got going it started to look easier. Neither of the Peveral openers got a wicket in their 16 overs (for some reason GP only tried to hit Egg in the head once) and only when the leg spin of Laz turned up did we lose one, Dog doing a bit of a Rich and being trapped in front. Rorn joined Egg as the latter passed his 50 before departing to a straight one. Stylo popped in and out with a diabolical thirst, Raj raising the finger once again to Stylo's dismay. Rorn and Gas finished it off with over 10 overs to spare and nicking the extra batting point from the final hit. 10 from 10 and further clear at the top as a result.

Dales were fairly clean cut despite a couple of rouge votes, NC maidenless, wicketless and dropping a sitter off his own bowling left many with little option.

On to the twins derby next week.
