Match report Final match of the season and, after a successful Saturday for the club, it was the Sunday team's turn to shine. John Baines was parachuted in to captain last minute and won the toss, which obviously means he can't be considered for the position long term as that's not what BCC captain's do, but against a weak looking oppo he decided to bat. After a stuttering start, which saw Henry lose his wicket and declare that he's giving up batting to focus on becoming full time Groundman next season, Jamie hit a senior PB with a well made 35. Dave 'running late' Wright made up for his tardiness with 43, then it was the Spencer show. Powerful hitting from the off saw him race to 50 then push on to 113*, helped across the line by Edward who was 20 not out himself. A magnificent performance from Spencer which he can hopefully build on next season.

With 254 to defend Captain John was able to rotate his bowling resource and wickets began to fall from the very start. An early victim from Dan, then 2 from 'the wizard', seemed to break what little spirit they had as wickets continued to fall. One for the centurion Spencer then two apiece for Tristan, Alfie and Edward; the latter having a hattrick ball whizz down the leg side for 4 buzzers, nevermind. Benfleet were all out for 115 after 34 overs, a dominating performance by our boys. The future's bright here.
