Broomfield Cricket Club 1st XI v Galleywood 1st X1 on Sat 28 Aug 2021 at 1:00
Broomfield Cricket Club Lost by 5 wickets
Match report
Final game of a dreadful season. In typical fashion there was selection agg with Rorn not being able to play due to P selfishly going in to labour. That left Egg in charge, couldn't do any worse.
Batting first against the likes of Nitro and Multi, Babe Jnr looked intent on a Nuttall by going after it. After getting to his first 50, he got Multied along with Gas and Dog whilst Egg felt the force of Nitro. Bainesy ran himself out again after looking like he didn't want to mess about. Butt returned in style by bottling a 50 with a nice 46 and NC returned a season's best with 33* off 207 balls to see us 218-9 at the break.
In response, Galleywood were a bit stop start with Raj bowling another tight spell only going for 20 off his 10. It became Dog vs NC for the most wickets, with Dog actually bowling straight and taking a handy advantage by taking 3 before NC was in the attack and Dog would eventually prevail. Rorn left as Galleywood went 4 down as it looked an easy win from there. Shock, it wasn't. One of the youngsters manage to knock 84 and Gas came on for his customary spanking to see us lose comfortably in the end.
Unfortunately the story of the season, we've either been battered or chucked games away, there's no reason we shouldn't have been comfortably mid table looking at the majority of the opposition but we've been poor.
Jack signed off with the Dales after a fielding performance Stirlo would've been ashamed of (so I hear).
Shite summer all round, particularly with the weather being so poor. Let's hope 2022 is a lot better.
