Broomfield Cricket Club 1st XI v Great Wakering on Sat 11 Jun 2022 at 13.00
Broomfield Cricket Club Won by 89 runs
Match report
Good toss to win, batted. Started pretty well with Dog and Gas as Egg couldn't be arsed turning up on time, Dog was a bit rusty to be fair but still, they batted for 19 overs before the first wicket went when Gas went for a nicely made 60. In came Rob who saw Dog go for 29 and then Noah and Egg in relatively quick succession. Rob went on to make 69 and the innings ended up on 215 which was probably 50 less than we should've got.
They didn't bat particularly well, Fish had a nice spell and was unlucky to only get 1 wicket whilst trying to impress his new friend. Their innings was all about the slower bowlers using their experience and form. NC bowled a miserly spell, going for just 11 off his 9 and picking up 3. Could've been 5 if he and Fish could catch! Goat also bullied Gas in to a spell and he was right. Turn and bounce aplenty, they had no idea how to play him. The pre-match colonel led to 4 wickets for just 30 from his spell, Liam selfishly taking the last wicket before Goat would've mopped up the fiver fer. We rolled them over for 126. Three wins on the bounce.
The most competitive part of the day came in the Dales vote. Some tactical voting going on and the youngsters had a tiff voting for each other which was good to see. Egg, Fish & Bainesy ended up with 3 votes a piece so Bone was allowed the casting vote. He seemed pretty pleased to go for Egg with his lack of punctuality, horrific shot, deliberately letting boundaries go through off Goat's bowling and also looking like one of the oppo who cried all day being the primary reasons.
