Broomfield Cricket Club Won By 166 Runs

Match report Starting off with the usual wrong call at the toss, we were cheered up by the bizarre decision to put us in on what looked a decent track with a very inviting boundary one side. Eglin and Dog Turner got us off to a good start putting on 60 in the first 10 before Dog appeared to be distracted by the frequently arriving clientele of the restaurant adjacent to the ground and missed a straight one departing for 36. The skipper followed shortly after, frustratingly holing out at deep mid-wicket for 26. That left Rob Lynn and Fish to enjoy the surroundings and what looked an understrength attack, lacking depth. Boundaries were coming constantly and the score was racing up. Both reached 50 at around a run a ball before starting to accelerate. Fish eventually picked out long off to depart for 63 whilst Rob carried on and made it another 100. Rich Lynn had entered the crease looking slightly rusty and so nearly gave Dog the opportunity to erect that little index finger of his first ball after nicking behind but got a life. The restaurant car park was now taking a fair few and somehow only one sign and one car got hit. Rob eventually reached 155* at the close with Rich chipping in with 32* as we ended up on 341-3.

After a spectacular tea, we set about trying to get this over asap so we take a closer look at that restaurant. However, the oppo were none too keen to give up their wickets despite never attempting the chase. A good opening spell from Fish only yielded 2 wickets, one included Egg snaffing one at second slip going down slower than the Tanic and leaving a massive dent in the deck, but after that we struggled to get in to them. Not much to report on the rest of the innings, just a few tidy spells from the Goat, Egg and NC. Even Prince Receding popped up with a wicket as they crawled to 175-5 at the end of play. Butters slightly unlucky to receive the Dales this week as no one did much wrong but he can have them for a dropped catch and also completely and utterly stacking it in to a ditch because the Buttbrakes don't work. Those combined slightly outdid the Goat sliding in to a bench for no apprarent reason. Both players received due sympathy whilst laying there in pain as the rest of us just wet ourselves. On to next week.
