Great Baddow v Broomfield Cricket Club Sunday XI & Social on Tue 26 May 2009 at 17.45
Broomfield Cricket Club Lost 8 wickets

Match report Having rained heavily for the entirety of monday and half of tuesday the Baddow Rec. had drained well, the wicket was dry and played well with no uncertain bounce. The Broomfield skipper won the toss and to his players 'delight' chose to bat.
Broomfield started positively with Green deciding to open the batting on this occassion with Rob Holmes. The two put on a steady 25 run partnership with some tidy opening bowlers operating. A picturesc cover drive from Holmes and monster hit for 6 by Green looked to get Broomfield going but holmes was skittled in the 5th over by Hewartson and Green was caught out the next over. Chambers looked good but was bowled by Simmons and with the scoreboard saying Green should have bowled first it wasn't looking promising at 40-4. A Chris Thorn sloggathon was crucial for Broomfield to get back on track and it looked hopeful when he bumped Hewartson back over his head for 4. Unfortunately he was bowled by the same bowler shortly after which brought together Franklin and fisher. The two young men put on 20 runs (inc. extra's) before Franklin was dismissed for 3 with Fisher hogging the strike and batting confidently. A few decent blows from Fisher brought his total to 22 at number 7 and he was eventually caught out of John Pyle's bowling to complete the best nock of the day. A cool head and not throwing away his wicket was shown to the rest of the team, but after his dismissal there was very little batting to come afterwards and Broomfield stuttered to 83-9 at the end of the 20th.
Great Baddow opened up very positively obviously not looking to nudge n nurdle, but to bludgeon the opening bowlers to all parts. Ron Ram (Mustafizur/Ronny) opened with ruhul but Withams picked a few streaky boundaries and the scoreboard ticked over nicely. Green decided to take over from Pacey Ruhul Amin but was given much the same treatment. The one positive from Broomfields perspective was left arm Chinaman Jonny May who came on and had both batsmen in all sorts of trouble and had 2-8 off his first 2 overs. unfortunately when ellmore decided to use his feet he struck 3 consecutive fours and finished the game.
